Step 9: Home Insurance

At some point during the underwriting process, the lender will require you to set up Homeowner’s Insurance. It is best to start this now. For most people, your home is the largest purchase you will ever make and you want to make sure it’s properly insured.

Shop around for your homeowner’s insurance because rates can vary dramatically. Get a quote from your car insurance company first because you may qualify for a discount if you bundle your car and home insurance. We also recommend the following insurance agents:

NP Dodge Insurance

Jared Ohl

Regi & Lisa Powell

Please note: you will not pay for any homeowner’s insurance when you make these arrangements.  Your insurance agent will forward your insurance ‘binder’ to the lender and it will be forwarded to the title company.  The insurance is considered part of your ‘closing costs & prepaids’ that we discuss when making the offer.
